View magazineThe Academy of The University of Pennsylvania is Penn's most distinguished giving group. Every year we produce a roster of it's members along with a letter from the University president. This year I edited the usual hang letter to be a die-cut fold-card/wrap showcasing some of the exclusive programming available to members in order to incentivize attendance.
For the fold wrap, we used soft touch to highlight the texture contrast with the gold foil shield and signature, on the interior it brings out the rich color and metallic inks. The names are blurred for confidentiality.
Cabrini College is launching a new Gala event for their alumni where they will introduce both the Christopher Award and the Lumniary Award, both referencing a quote from Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini. They had some specific iconography in mind based on the quote and needed a unique graphic to brand the Gala while maintaining consistency with the existing university identity.
We used a rich navy bleed on smooth cover with silver foil accents for contrast.
I tried to give this annual invitation an old fashioned feel with a navy/red paisley repeat, while freshening things up on the inside with lots of clean white space.
<The request was for a bee and ladybug graphic, both on skis. This was a job for a VERY SMALL honey producer, and while it wasn't the most glamorous project - definitely a rewarding one. Doesn't hurt that the little bee keeper is my adorable 4 year old niece or that I was paid in honey!
This snowy save the date, celebrating the Tetons, was designed for a ski loving couple who plan to tie the knot in Jackson Hole this winter. Can't wait to work on the invitations.

More About SWSHaving completed a handful of wedding invites and websites I figured doing my own would be a breeze. Nope. I was definitely my worst client ever.
We were really happy with how the invites came out. We wanted to capture elements from both of our cultures as well as our own tastes. We chose a flower motif from mendhi, symbolizing joy, and then used a grey/silver ink using letterpress as a nod to the simplicity of conservative jewish wedding invitations. To add a little bit of our own style we used typographic highlights from the art deco period to tie things together. On letterpress.
view our siteWe have been doing more and more infographics as a way to both provide quick information as well as highlight text and increase clicks on the giving.upenn.edu blog. This infographic was created to introduce an article about the School of Social Policy and Practice's Social Impact House. We definitely saw an increase in click-throughs to the article!

This website and look was created for my sister-in-law for her psychiatric practice. She wanted something clean and professional but also a color story that gave a nod to her graduate work at NYU.

Invitation CrushEach Penn to You features conversation with a dean from one of Penn's 12 schools. along with presentations and panel discussions with select faculty - many of whom were recruited through the Making History Campaign.
Penn to You, literally brings a small piece of Penn to other cities. With the invitation I tried to demostrate that in a physical way using the cut-out in the 2, which shows a map of the city where the program is being held. The result brings penn to that city in a visual way. I kept that in mind while designing the stage set-up, but chose to do the reverse. The backdrop for each city is a blown up campus map, bringing Penn to the audience in a graphic way, complementing the faculty who are bringing a small part of Penn to the audience through there presentations.
View stage set-upI initially created this graphic as a way to market a volunteer event at Penn. Penn hearts volunteers was the slogan I created and then made a heart out of the Penn shield. It was unexpectedly popular and has been a key element of the event every year since.
This graphic has been used by both the Nursing School, Penn Hearts Nurses, and by Kelly O'Connor in Alumni Relations for her Penn Hearts Moms pins. See image above.
2013 event photosA collaboration between Alumni Relations and The Penn Fund, the yPenn program was launched in fiscal year 2011 as a way to bridge graduating seniors with the alumni program, which up until then had largely been focusing on an older demographic. Thanks to the success of the Penn Traditions program, graduating seniors had a strong sense of community and a connection to Penn Alumni. This new program would be responible for continuing that bond and providing programming for younger alumni with marketing designed to target them directly. When tasked with creating a logo for yPenn, I aimed to incorporate elements from both the Penn Traditions and Penn Alumni logos.
